McCalls
of Elgin has traded from these premises since 1989, the building dates
back as early as 1890. The city and Royal burgh of Elgin is
situated midway between Aberdeen and Inverness on the A96. Dominating
the town is the huge ruin of the Cathedral, the lantern of the north,
burnt down in the 13th century by Wolf of Badnoch. Elgin received its
title Royal burgh, due to the fact that Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed at
the Thunderton House, a local hotel, on his way to fight at Culloden
Moor 36 miles away. Elgin is also situated close to the worlds only Malt
Whisky Trail and the Cairngorms.
